Dragon Art

Yes, the dragon artwork on this site is my own. I did mention that I’m a nerd, right?

This is where my Photoshop addiction comes in handy. The following images are a combination of digitally painted dragons with photo-composited setting backgrounds (I prefer to call it “photo-bashing” because that sounds like more fun). So the backgrounds are the result of taking bits and pieces of various different images (all legally sourced through reputable stock image sites), putting them together, and then making them look like something coherent with digital painting, adjustment layers (so… many… adjustment layers sometimes) and then finishing up with a touch more color grading to pull it all together and the Oil Paint filter to make it all look like a digital painting to match the dragons.

Could I paint the backgrounds, too? Probably. But I don’t because that would take me a thousand times longer and, frankly, I don’t have the patience to paint backgrounds.
