Honesty time. Kate Aneth is a pen name. My real name is Suzie O’Connell and under that, I am a USA Today bestselling author of 13 heartfelt contemporary small town romance novels. But fantasy is and has always been my first love. And I’m finally getting back to it… because the real world doesn’t have dragons.

The name is from one of the first fantasy stories I ever wrote, way back in fourth or fifth grade. Kate was my main character and, in the tradition of all young writers, based largely on myself. Aneth was her bonded dragon (black, in case you’re wondering).

What can you expect from my books? Well, dragons, naturally. But also character-driven high fantasy. There will be heart-wrenching scenes, no doubt, but there will plenty of hope and sparks of humor as well. No unending darkness from this author.
